YOSHIHIRO TATSUKI

Born in Tokushima Prefecture in 1937, into a family that ran an established portrait studio—making photography was a lifelong calling. In 1965, at age 26, Tatsuki achieved critical and public attention with the stunning 56-page photo feature Shitadashi Tenshi (A Fallen Angel) published in Camera Mainichi. It paired his photographs with poems by Shūji Terayama and commentary by Makoto Wada, becoming recognized as a defining moment in postwar Japanese photography.
