Really wanted to showcase this band because one their songs have been stuck in my head lately and I just can't shake it so s/o to them. Let me give you some facts about the homies. (I'm going to start being less formal on here because who cares really.)
Formed: Late 1960s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Members (classic lineup):
Russell Thompkins Jr. (lead falsetto vocals)
Airrion Love (tenor/baritone)
Herb Murrell (baritone)
James Smith (tenor)
James Dunn (bass)
They came together out of two high school groups: The Percussions and The Monarchs.
The Stylistics are remembered as icons of soul balladry.
Their music is frequently sampled and covered—artists from Prince to Boyz II Men and Mary J. Blige have drawn inspiration from their lush vocal style.
In terms of impact, they stand alongside The Temptations and The Delfonics as one of the great American vocal harmony groups.
