For Dolce & Gabbana’s Spring/Summer 1992 campaign, Steven Meisel photographed Isabella Rossellini and Monica Bellucci in a series that perfectly captured the house’s early 1990s Sicilian glamour. The images channeled a neorealist, cinematic mood—black-and-white photography, sun-drenched piazzas, and sensual yet refined styling that echoed Italian film traditions. Rossellini brought a sense of timeless elegance and heritage, while Bellucci, then at the start of her international career, embodied youthful allure and sultry femininity. Together, under Meisel’s lens, they expressed Dolce & Gabbana’s vision of womanhood as both classic and provocative, making the campaign one of the brand’s most iconic early statements.
