Doug Liman’s Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005) became almost as famous for its behind-the-scenes drama as for the film itself. Shot with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as married assassins, the production was known for its on-set chemistry between the leads—sparking a widely publicized real-life romance that overshadowed the movie. The film had a troubled shoot, with multiple rewrites, schedule delays, and clashes between Liman and the studio over tone and direction. Liman even used his own house for reshoots of key scenes. Despite the difficulties, the mix of action, comedy, and sizzling chemistry turned the movie into a global box office hit and a pop culture touchstone.
